This Olympic year of 2008 greets a fantastic new race series for young cyclists.  There are events to suit riders from 6 to 16 years of age !

The phenomenal success of the RIS Insulation Junior Tour of Wales - an event fully supported by Blaenau Gwent Council throughout its 28year history - has led the organisers to programme an event for riders in the younger age categories (6 - 16yrs)  The youth event will be on similar lines to the Junior Tour of Wales.

Sponsorship has been arranged with ARRIVA TRAINS WALES, who are keen to promote cycling as a positive activity for young people and at the same time celebrate the success of the Ebbw Vale Line.

The 2008 edition took place on the 23rd and 31st August under Welsh Cycling Regulations.  The 2009 edition takes place on 5th and 6th September with a Tredegar Town Centre Time Trial, a processional ride to Parc Bryn Bach and two closed road races!  Click here for more information for 2009.

The racing takes place at Wales only Closed Road Cycle Race circuit at Parc Bryn Bach, near Ebbw Vale in Blaenau Gwent.  The circuit is set in 340 acres of grass and woodland with a BMX track, visitor centre, bunkhouse, fishing and water sport lake together with camping facilities.

Nicole Cooke, Wales most successful woman cyclist said of this event .....

"The Arriva Youth Tour of Wales is a fantastic opportunity for young people to begin cycling and really challenge themselves in an exciting and healthy sport.  The courses will take place in the best of the local Welsh countryside and whether it is just for fun or for that competitive streak in you the opportunities in cycling are endless!"

The General Classification (overall winner) will be decided using the best of the two circuit race results plus the Time Trial.  Positions will be decided on points.

Entries will be accepted for either of the two days but the fee remains the same £5.
